Gentle Teaching

Who are our special friends?
They used to be called 'patients' and in some countries they still are. In other countries they are called clients, consumers, people with a mental illness, people with mental disability, etc. Sometimes they are just called 'a person'. In Sadhana Village, a small community in India, they are called 'special friends'.
Everybody needs good friends who care for you and help you when their help is needed. They will also help you spontaneously when they see that you are getting into troubles. People with special vulnerabilities need this friendship more then others, That’s why they are called ‘special friends’.
Words like ‘clients’, ‘customers’, ‘consumers’ don’t express the essence of the relationship between care givers and the people they are caring for. Neither do words like ‘person’ or ‘individual’.
